The Apostlebirds are ubiquitous, noisy and delightful. They don't live in the area that I live in and it's a real pleasure to see them when we holiday in the north.
Black Kites do live in my area but they're not very common, so it was a surprise to see them socialising in numbers on the playing field in Claremont in Queensland. There were about twenty on the field a several flying up and down the creek.
Tomorrow we head out to the coast at Mackay. We would have been there today but a slight mechanical hiccup means that we're unexpectedly staying in a coal-mining town called Moranbah.

I think apostlebirds always look as though they're up to no good!
