Barkly Highway

We covered a bit of distance today along the Barkly Highway between Camooweal and Tennant Creek but, if you look at a map, there aren't any towns. The road is good and it would be tempting to drowse off (when in the passenger seat!) or concentrate on a DVD, talking book or podcast. But I found the vegetation fascinating  and we stopped a few times along the way to have a closer look. The photo above was taken from the road and to all appearances is blue-grey, nothing special. But actually nearly every shrub was flowering. They've had two good wet seasons here and the plants have responded well. I have no idea what most of them are apart from 'grevillea' or 'ptilotus' but that doesn't matter - they were all beautiful. Sorry if you're tired of looking at pretty flower pictures but here are some more :)
