Views from the boardwalk
The tide was out but a little pond of saltwater remained near the mangroves. It looked very dull and murky but then we noticed several schools of tiny fish. I couldn't get a clear image on the LCD screen on my camera but took several photos anyway. After I'd downloaded them to the computer, cropped the image a little and corrected the colour balance I was amazed to see colourful little fish appear on the screen. I've no idea what they are.
And I don't know what this little skink is either. Two of them were on the wooden fence near the beach. (Update: Apparently it's a Wall Skink Cryptoblepharus virgatus.)

Breaking the rules
The road train was loaded with old growth logs and I had my camera up to the windscreen to take a photo as we travelled slowly down a very steep hill. (On a websearch I found that one sawmill in the Injune district is allowed to log cypress pines so maybe that's what these logs are.)
And then this happened!! Another B-double passing over double lines, on a curve, on a steep hill. And then the car following did the same thing!

Dry creeks
As we travel on the highways I love to check out all the creeks and rivers that we cross at 100k/hr, just to see if there's water in them - the dry creek beds are very appealing to a Victorian brought up in a part of Australia where creeks usually have water in them. These creeks can be dangerous though. Rainfall upstream can result in flash floods downstream. In the photo below, of a creek near Moranbah, you can see which way the water flows - the force of a flood has almost uprooted the small shrubs on the bank.
I've been trying to think of a ballad or short story we had to read in school about the dangers of crossing one of these creeks in flood. I seem to remember drovers and cattle came into it somehow. Was it in the Readers we all had in the 50s? Maybe someone out there will know.
