A survivor

Just because it's pretty. Melaleuca wilsonii doesn't have a common name, but this paperbark grows very well in one of the driest parts of my garden, and I saw it growing well and flowering prolifically in the sandy Little Desert three years ago.

Yesterday I had a look at the trend maps on the Bureau of Meteorology webpage. This is the mean temperature graph for my area. They paint a scary picture and I think I'm going to need more plants like this in my garden in the future.

We saw heaps of M wilsonii at the Redgum Swamp when we were there, not flowering unfortunately. Had it in the garden years ago, did well.

Hi Boobook
I love this plant too - from my days at the Botanic Gardens in Canberra (as a volunteer guide). The name helps too!
Great find of yours - that graph from the Bureau. They have so much amazing data on their site, but the good bits are hard to find.
When one sees that graph, how can the "climate change deniers" maintain that temps are not rising?
I have bookmarked that page, for future reference.
Thanks for bringing it to attention.
